Childhood memories
I remember I loved plum dumplings as a child. My grandma always made them by herself – the potato dough with half a plum inside, covered in fried bread crumbs and sugar. Oh my. This plum cake reminds me of those dumplings so much!
I know it might seem weird, this idea of dumplings and all. But they are delicious and so is this plum cake with lemon zest zing. Nope, no potatoes in there, I promise.
What makes the plum cake with lemon zest great all year round?
There is some refreshing yogurt in the batter, though, and some lemon juice + lemon zest. It all makes a wonderfully moist cake refreshing yet still perfect for fall. A bit of cinnamon makes all the difference, I am telling you.
I bet this cake could be made with some other fruit as well, like blackberries, raspberries, or black currant. Heck, you could even make a summer version with apricots and peaches! Yes, this plum cake with lemon zest gives you an amazing base for any kind of cake. Set your imagination free, dear friend!
