Do you know anyone who doesn’t like pasta? I believe pasta is a universal food. If food brings people together, then this pasta will keep them together. 15 minutes tomato sauce is the key to a happy belly. You cannot miss with a simple tomato sauce, right?
We all have those busy days when we can’t make time for a good meal. Being a student with tons of interests and hobbies I surely found myself in a position in which I didn’t have time to cook for an hour (although I really wanted to). Also being a hedonist when it comes to food, a store-bought sandwich wouldn’t always satisfy my taste buds.
Did you ever feel the same need for delicious food when you couldn’t afford the time to cook properly? I got you covered. 15 minutes Tomato Sauce is the answer.

My love for this 15 minutes tomato sauce goes beyond words. It’s sooooo simple and it only takes 15 minutes to prepare it. I don’t think anyone could wish for more than that. Even those who are really picky with their food cannot say no to a simple tomato sauce.
This 15 min Tomato Sauce sauce is:
- flavourful
- quick to make
- dumb-proof
- super basic
- useful in other contexts (use it for lasagna, pizza, even in a sandwich or blend it with more water to make a soup)
A lot of flavour comes from all the spices you’ll be adding. They are all very basic so you should have them in your pantry, not just for this recipe but for many others, too. In case you’re missing one or two of the spices, you shouldn’t worry too much. The only thing you shouldn’t miss is garlic. It gives depth to the sauce. We all like to go deep, right?

Cayenne pepper is there for those who like it hot. If you’re not a fan of spicy food you might want to avoid adding chilli to the sauce (cayenne pepper = chilli).
Go on, give it a try! Trust me when I say you will not forget this sauce. Even more, you will keep coming back to it for sure.

15 minutes Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 can tomato pieces in their juice or 400 ml
- 1 small red onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 300 g pasta
spices
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp thyme
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp basil
- pinch black pepper
- pinch cayenne pepper if you like it hot
Instructions
- Chop onions in small pieces. Do the same with garlic.
- In the meantime boil water for pasta in the kettle. Pour it into a pot and don't forget to turn on your stove. Add some salt and pasta to the pot and cook it for 10 minutes (or as long as the packaging says).
- Warm up oil in a pan. Once it's hot, add onions to the pan and stir frequently. You don't want to burn your onions. After about two minutes add salt and stir. Continue sautée-ing onions for about 3 more minutes.
- Time to add tomatoes. We're almost done here! Pour tomatoes into a pan and stir.
- Add all the spices and thinly chopped garlic. Stir them into the tomato sauce. Bring to boil.
- Drain pasta, add it to the plate and pour tomato sauce over it. Garnish with some parsley or basil to add freshness to the dish. Now, that was easy, wasn't it?
